hrough May 1, more than 100 of Nashville’s top songwriters trade in their cowboy hats and
boots for bathing suits and flip-flops at the 16th annual Better Angels Key West Songwriters Festival, the largest festival of its kind in the world. Since 1997 Broadcast Music Inc./BMI has been a key sponsor of the fest which revolves around five days and nights of many free shows at popular hotspots on-island. Acoustic showcases dominate the sched- ule. A street concert adds a Mardi Gras impetus to the mix. Venues include the Green Parrot,

Ocean Key Resort, Pier House Resort, Sloppy Joe’s, Blue Heaven, Cowboy Bills, Bottle Cap, Conch Republic Seafood Company, Southernmost Beach Café, Double Tree Grand Key Resort, Westin Resort, Hyatt Re- sort, Casa Marina, Jack’s at La Concha, Margaritaville, Rum Barrel, Irish Kevin’s, and Fury sunset cruises. New venues include Ibis Bay Resort, Island Dogs, McFadden’s, San Carlos Teatre and Tropic Cinema. Most shows
are free. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights feature sunset performances on Fury catamaran.
