HARRISON HAS A CUNNING PLAN PROFESSIONAL TROPHY

Phil Harrison knows what it takes to beat three-time former world champion Gareth Potts.

And in the final of the Professional Trophy at Leicester, Harrison's master plan worked a treat.

The Cambridgeshire window cleaner won 9-5 to capture the final title held over from 2010.

“A lot of players get down hearted when they play Gareth because they know they don’t get many shots,” explained Harrison.

“And he has got that little edge over people at the moment.

“But as long as you realise that from the start, then you can beat him.

“Gareth does give you some chances and when you get those opportunities, you must take them.

“And that’s what I did in this final.”

However, the 2009 world champion admits his victory came as something of a surprise.

“I always seem to start the year badly. Because of my work load and looking after the youngster, I don't get much time to practice.

“I seem to get better as the year goes on. So, to win this tournament in January came as something of a shock.

“It’s probably only my fourth or fifth professional title.

“I’ve been in loads more finals but usually ended up losing them.

“And for two or three years, I really struggled to get past the quarter-finals of a pro event.”

Harrison almost came a cropper in the last 31
