Austria’s only year round ski area offers 18km of varied pistes during its summer season, served by nine lifts. There’s also a park with pipe, boxes, table tops and rails. Under the glacier is the natural Ice Palace with crevasses and crystals to explore (ϵ8), plus three times a
week the resort runs tours into the glacier with a guide to explain how it was formed (ϵ6). Add adrenalin with mountain biking, hiking and exploring caves housing stalactites, crystal formations and bats. There’s also a kids’ playground with tubing, giant gondola and bob run at 3250m.
The Zillertal Activcard (ϵ51 for six days) gives pedestrians and
cyclists one daily cable car ride on 10 lifts up and down the valley, along with access to swimming pools and an observatory, plus valley buses and trains. Tourist office

ski passOne day €34.20, €171 for six days A 90 hectare ski area offers up 14 lifts serving green, blue and red runs plus a huge freestyle area with everything from halfpipe to boardercross to slopestyle courses – plus barbecue, djs and deckchairs. In the afternoons, a ski pass for two days or more doubles as a pass for activities from swimming and ice skating to archery and tobogganing.
