Q&A

What drew you to the snowdon 500? Snowdon looked like the right level of challenge and I’d climbed it before so I thought I’d be able to sell it to others.

Was it hard to organise? The logistics are all part of the challenge. It’s not

François lefebvre

In May 2010 François Lefebvre took part in the annual Snowdon 500 challenge, organising a team of participants from his company. So what’s it like to take part…

just the event itself and the fundraising – you’ve got to think about food, transport, accommodation, and health and safety too. But it all came together which was very rewarding.

What is the route like? It’s four miles to the top and there are two routes

up – we took the Miner’s Track because the Pyg Track is more challenging and I wanted to make sure the team could stay together. There was no pressure to go fast and I wanted the team to enjoy the experience. It took us four hours to climb up and three to come down.

What was the highlight? It was so exciting to reach the top – we took a break, everyone congratulated

each other. We had a brilliant day too, sunny and beautiful. So when on the summit we had a fantastic view, it was magical. Getting to the bottom was also a great feeling too.

Would you do it again? Yes, it feels great to have done such a challenge, and it’s made even better when you think about the money you’ve raised. I’d recommend it to anyone.
