Spain’s massive rave in the sandy wilderness of Monegros gears up for 2011…


THERE aren’t many things in life more mental than Monegros Desert Festi val, the giganti c rave for 40,000 people near the town of Fraga in Spain. Imagine it: 20 hours of non-stop house, techno, electro, drum & bass and dubstep across fi ve stages under the hazy orange glow of a sun-scorched desert. Yep, on 23rd July, you could be raving with the geckos, re-hydrati ng with the cacti or trance dancing with the camels at an electronic music festi val like no


other — a sweltering, blazing, sunburnt sandstorm of rays and sonics featuring some of the biggest names in dance music kicking up dust. So far, already lined up, they’ve got Boys Noize, Paul Kalkbrenner (live), Luciano, Vitalic, Steve Aoki and Dirtyphonics (live) with 50 more arti sts to be confi rmed in due course. This is one festi val going against (or with!) the grain.
