MONKEY FLIP FEAT NAZIZI & ABBAS (BOYS NOIZE REMIX) MODESELEKTOR MONKEYTOWN RECORDS

Off-the-wall, unhinged and unpredictable, Modeselektor’s freewheeling take on dance music belies the usual cool seriousness of their Berlin roots. Playing bass music in a city known for its cliquey techno bubble, wearing chimp masks to perform and boasting cerebral rock god Thom Yorke amongst their fans (maybe he does have a sense of humour), they’re never easy to pin down.

One of the few March charts not to mention Miami (sorry, we’ve brought it up now), they’re recently released the superb ‘Monkey Flip’ on their own Monkeytown Records, a buzzing piece of crunked-up hip-hop whose electronic vibe easily tops a chart that includes the likes of Siriusmo, SBTRKT & Sinden, Julio Bashmore and Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka, whose own release on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons is a dancefloor destroyer indeed.
