REACTABLE takes the concept of synthesis and uses the interface on iOS devices to offer a different access point to music creation. Actually a virtual version of a physical product which utilizes the same concept via tabletop and object interfaces, the functionality is identical. The properties of each object are activated on a proximity scale to other parts of the synthesis ‘protocol route’. There are four groups of objects to be used within the act of creating


synthesis, namely Generators, Effects & Filters, Controllers and Global Controllers. Groups are then subdivided into specific menus, so within Generators you can use an Oscillator, a Loop Player, a Sampler and a Microphone. You place objects by dragging them

into the screen from


an options menu, and dependent on what you use and where you place it, you will create an entirely original, fully synthesized sound. Double tapping each object then opens up a whole menu dedicated to its distinct properties — note choice, frequency, duration, LP/HP filters, wave shape and so on.


The usual server export capabilities are present (44.1kHz), as is the option to save your own samples for use within the app. Fans or students of synthesis should buy this now.
