River Signals continued from p6

some folks keep paddling when most of the whitewater is frozen. Perhaps Rapid could send Mr. Aylsworth to get his feet wet and actually play a game of kayak polo. Then, Bengi, we’ll see who punts the ball. As for the rest of the article about the secret, bloated, family life of most kayakers, this is a secret only to Benjamin. I disagree that kayakers push the hip‚ extreme‚ image. The people push- ing this image are the ones trying to sell us hydrodynamic thermonuclear eyewear. The same people that are trying to get the amply financed (see mom and dad) snowboard crowd onto the river (you think there are line-ups now). Brent Barber Ottawa, ON

I did a C1 outfit for a Forplay XXX. You can look at my pictures on my website: www.ori- com.ca/bdelisle. I'm going to put some com- ments in French and later in English.

Just wanted to say that the last issue of

Rapid was really good! Getting me excited for another summer on the Ottawa! I am in the Adventure Guide Program at University College of the Cariboo in Kamloops, B.C. My summers are spent on the Ottawa River working at Liquid Skills and Boatwerks at the put-in. I wanted to let you guys know that on page 29 (“Lock 19,” Rapid V5 I1) the paddler is not Patrick Camblin—it is me. It is pretty funny because I am pretty good friends with Pat and he phoned me before I saw the picture and told me about it!
