Letters A Note of Thanks
Dear Mr. Fred Clarke [Care Package Donor], I am the Commanding Officer of Company L, 3rd Bat- talion, 5th Marines. We are currently deployed to the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Today I received a Flip Video recorder from you, and I am writing in response to your genrosity.
This deployment has taken its toll on us. Company L has lost several Marines…[and] the memories of this tour will endure in our minds for many years to come. As you may know, the relationships forged in combat are of a unique and special nature. The video recorder you sent will ensure those relationships are preserved in film, and I cannot overstate its value. I have put the recorder into the capable hands of a Marine named LCpl Dexter Saulisbury…to film what- ever he wants… The product will be duplicated and distributed to each Marine and Sailor at the end of this tour. I know what he creates will be treasured. Your gift reflects the patriotism, thoughtfulness, and spirit of giving that characterizes great Americans.
Semper Fidelis, Capt Matthew H. Peterson USMC

We just want to let you know how much we enjoyed The Pacific Club in Honolulu. We had several meals and they were outstanding. Jean-Yves and his staff know how to make you feel at home. The food was excellent. We have also used the facilities of the South Carolina Yacht Club and The Athletic Club in Columbus. Thanks for this fine perk.
Dick and Elsie Blankenbeker Dear Editor,
Thanks to our reciprocal club privileges, I hosted a luncheon for 12 guests at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey. The CYC staff was very friendly and helpful. The entire event was a success. The din- ing views the marina, the food was very good and the price was reasonable. I would not hesitate to recom- mend this facility to other members.
