CSU names a new Dean of the College of Education


Dr. Reginald Nnazor has been ap- pointed to the position of Dean of the College of Education at Central State University. Dr. Nnazor most recently was professor and chair of the College of Education at the University of Maine, Presque Isle, Maine.


He is founder of the Nnazor Educa- tion and Community Development Foundation, a philanthropic organi- zation facilitating literacy, adult edu- cation and community development projects in southeastern Nigeria.


Dr. Nnazor completed his undergrad- uate degree in education/English at the University of Nigeria, his master’s degree from the University of Victo- ria, and a Ph.D., from the University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada.


Dr. Nnazor has extensive experience in teaching, research, consulting, and grant development. His most recent published work is, “A Conceptual Framework for Understanding the Use of Information and Communication Technology in Teaching in Universities” — International Journal of Instructional Technology and Dis- tance Education.


Central State University’s mission is what attracted Dr. Nnazor to the University. “Central State has a rich history and resilient character. Dr. Juliette B. Bell, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs said, “We look forward to Dr. Nnazor joining the Central State University team, his experience will be instru- mental in directing the College of Education’s growth to meet the edu- cational needs of our students.”


Renick named Dean of CSU-Dayton campus


Dr. James C. Renick will serve as Dean of the University’s Dayton cam- pus. Dr. Renick, a 1970 graduate of Central State University and a recog- nized leader in the area of university/ business/industry relations, joined the campus community in May 2009 as senior advisor to President John W. Garland.


Dr. James Renick, 1970 graduate of CSU, is appointed Dean of the Dayton Campus.


He has a long and distinguished career in higher education. Previ- ously, Renick served as a senior as- sociate with Penson and Associates, a higher education consulting firm. Dr. Renick was senior vice president for programs and research at the Ameri- can Council on Education.


In addition, Dr. Renick has served as chancellor and professor of politi- cal science at North Carolina A&T State University, and the University of Michigan Dearborn, respective- ly. Under Renick’s leadership both campuses experienced growth, in- cluding new and expanded academic programs and philanthropic sup-


port. Dr. Renick said, “I am looking forward to extending Central State University’s reach in service to the Dayton community.”


In December, Dr. Renick was ap- pointed to represent Central State University on the Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board. The Workforce Investment Board works to manage the strategic direction of local workforce develop- ment activities.
