BRANCHING OUT Vermeer SC372 Stump Cutter ® Powers Through Tough Stumps
Removing difficult stumps in limited-access areas is easy with the Vermeer SC372 stump cutter. The unit, which is 35 inches (88.9 cm) wide (without duals), is perfect for working in yards where entry through a gate is necessary and other locations where space is a factor.
A pair of engine options — a 37.8-hp (28.2 kW) Yanmar diesel or a 35-hp (26.1 kW) Briggs & Stratton Vanguard gas — provides sufficient power and torque to cut through tough stumps. Engine speed is monitored by the optional patented AutoSweep®
system. It automatically adjusts the
cutter wheel sweep rate to maximize productivity and reduce premature wear. Operators of models not equipped with the AutoSweep system can manually adjust the sweep rate.
Other industry-leading features allow the SC372 to bring efficient and high- performance results to stump removal jobsites. They include:
• Dual gear boxes take the place of lower drive belts that power the cutter wheel. This eliminates the need for routine lower belt drive maintenance, alignment and adjustments.
• Control lever sensors monitor the operator’s touch and maintains cutter wheel engagement. When the operator’s hands leave the control levers, an automatic disengage and braking sequence will stop the cutter wheel. It will automatically resume speed and cutting action if the operator’s touch resumes within two seconds.
• The gear box drive allows the SC372 to cut closer to buildings and other obstacles.
• Oscillating front-steering axle combined with dual tire two-wheel drive provides reliable stability and tractive effort. Optional all-wheel drive enhances operation when jobsite ground conditions are poor.
• A two-speed ground drive allows operators to travel around the jobsite quickly and use a slower controlled creep speed during cutter operation.
The SC372 rates high in chip containment. An optional chip blade helps eliminate chip raking during cleanup. The stump cutter also has the patent-pending Yellow Jacket™
cutter system. It features a universal tooth
that can accommodate all cutting positions on the cutter wheel.
