Green Meets Steel
at the TCI EXPO 2010
The tree-care industry converged on Pittsburgh for the TCI Expo this past November, and the event was filled with enthusiasm for the industry and optimism for the profession.
“By all rights the past 18 months have been difficult for many tree-care contractors,” says Jay Sunderman, tree-care strategic business unit manager for Vermeer Corporation. “But the mood of attendees was upbeat, and they are looking forward to the coming year.”
The Vermeer exhibit was bustling with activity ranging from climbing demonstrations staffed by ArborMaster personnel to new product introductions. Vermeer also announced that it will build its 100,000th
unit to one lucky piece of tree-care equipment in 2011 — it could be either a
brush chipper, stump cutter or tree spade. To commemorate the event Vermeer introduced the Leading the Way to 100k promotion, where the company plans to give away the 100,000th
tree-care contractor in a drawing — so stop by your local Vermeer dealer and register!
We can’t forget to mention the convention center facility — the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. It is the largest Gold LEED® certified green convention center in the world. The center saves on
energy by taking advantage of 75 percent of natural daylight; saves on ventilation with its naturally ventilated halls; saves on water with its on-site water reclamation system and aquifer accessibility; and takes advantage of both traditional and nontraditional forms of recycling. There couldn’t have been a better setting for the event and industry.
