ABE launches new QCF qualifications

The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is proud to announce that its programmes for Business Management, Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management, Marketing Management and Human Resource Management have all been accepted for entry to the new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).

Entry to the QCF signifies acceptance by the national regulator, Ofqual, that the qualifications are of high standard and make a significant contribution to educational and vocational needs.

ABE has taken this opportunity to thoroughly revise its suite of qualifications in order to provide the most relevant and focused learning experience for students.

We believe that our new qualifications will:

l Better reflect the needs of, and demands upon, the learners;

l Recognise the work required for, and trust placed in, our qualifications;

l Provide maximum opportunity for progression, either in work or to University; and

l Provide maximum flexibility, allowing students to move between programmes.

Consequently, the levels of ABE qualifications have been revised as follows:

The new QCF Business Management programme has specialist pathways within it. A student who wishes to develop their management ability, but with particular focus on either Finance or Information Systems, has the opportunity to do so.

ABE has also developed the Graduate Integrated Diploma (GID) through the combination of units at Levels 5 and 6, plus new options, as a result of demand from UK colleges. As the majority of credits available are at Level 6, the GID is accredited by Ofqual as a Level 6 qualification.

ABE held a successful briefing event on 25 November 2010 to introduce and explain these changes to key stakeholders. More than 70 colleges were represented at the event, which was held at the London Chamber of Commerce. If you want to find out more about the changes to the ABE qualification structure, please email info@ abeuk.com or contact your local ABE representative, whose contact details can be found on the ABE website: www.abeuk.com
