disclosed. “He got toWall Street in 1929, a
fewmonths before the crash,” his son, JimNeuberger, said. “Hewas 25. He worked every day until he was 99.” Roy Neuberger bought about
1,000 works of art over the years. Unlikehis stocks,whichhe traded for seven decades,Mr. Neuberger said he never sold any art. “It would be a criminal act for
me to sell,” he told Bloomberg News in 2003, the year he turned 100. “In art, I buy because I love thework.” Mr. Neuberger donated works
to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and to dozens of other U.S. museums. Most of his collection is at the NeubergerMuseumof Art in Pur- chase, N.Y. The museum opened in 1974. “In the beginning, I collected
art for a purpose — to help sup- port living artists,”
Mr.Neuberger wrote in “So Far, So Good: The First 94 Years,” his 1997 memoir. “NowI amsimply a lover of art.” The National Endowment for

oils and concentrated on still-life and representational paintings. Norma Dueece Spencer was

During the 1950s and ’60s, she
traveled abroad with her hus- band, who had Foreign Service postings in Germany, Pakistan, France,NewZealand andKorea. She lived in Silver Spring,

ard Newsom, died in 1979. Her second husband, Edward Young, died in 2008 after 24 years of marriage. Survivors include three chil-

every day until he was 99, when back surgery confined him to his apartment in New York’s Pierre Hotel. Lehman Brothers bought the
firmfor $2.63 billion in 2003. Mr. Neuberger’s wife of 65

Kordenbrock, 91, an aeronautical engineer who was the program manager of the Arc- tic Surface Effect Vehicle at the DavidTaylorNaval Ship Research and Development Center in Bethesda, died Nov. 17 at Renais- sance Gardens, a nursinghomein Silver Spring.He had Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Kordenbrock worked at
the naval research facility from 1970 until he retired in 1989. He had worked previously for the old Glenn
L.Martin Co. in Baltimore and for Bell Aerospace Services in Buffalo. Earlier in his career, Mr.
Kordenbrock had worked on the development of hovercraft — ve- hicles that wouldmovejust above the surface of water. In retire- ment,headvised students atWin- ston Churchill High School in Potomac who were building a hovercraft as part of a national high school science competition. James Urban Kordenbrock
was born in Cincinnati and re- ceived a bachelor’s degree in aero- nautical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1942. He served in the Army Air Forces duringWorldWar II. Hismembershipsincluded the
