DISNEY l GRAHAM HOPPER has left his position as head of games at Disney Interactive Studios. He has worked at Disney for two decades and was instrumental in the growth of the firm’s games division, championing its latest release: DisneyEpic Mickey.

His departure was revealed shortly after Disney reported it would be rethinking its console games strategy.

Hopper said of his departure: “The time has come for me to move on from the company and set my sights on new horizons.”

He will be replaced by former Electronic Arts man JOHN PLEASANTS, the former chief executive of casual games firm Playdom, which Disney acquired earlier this year.

Disney chief executive BOB IGER said in an interview: “By putting John in to run games, not only will he focus on turning those businesses into profitability, but diversifying our presence in the business.”

KAZOO l BRYONY BENOY has joined the Soho-based PR agency. She will be working on toys and video games from Disney.

She leaves her position as senior PR executive at Ubisoft, where she worked for two and a half years. She was nominated for this year’s MCV30 Under 30.

MICROSOFT ADVERTISING l The firm has hired JAMES HAYR as its new head of specialist sales.

He leaves magazine publisher Natmag Engage, where he was strategic sales director for all of the company’s print and online brands. He was also the creative media director at Emap2, which he launched back in December 2005. Hayr will be based in Microsoft Advertising’s London office. He will be responsible for expanding the firm’s

presence in the digital marketing space, including gaming.

GAIKAI l NANEA REEVES has joined the cloud-based game streaming service as chief strategy officer. She was previously the senior vice president and COO of Electronic Arts’ global online operations, before which she spent six years working at JAMDAT Mobile. “I am very impressed with what Gaikai is doing to transform the experience of how we access interactive entertainment and I am looking forward to being part of

such an innovative team,” said Reeves. Gaikai CEO DAVID PERRY added: “I’m really excited to have Nanea on board, her experience will help us determine our next moves as we grow our service.”
