Championships wins 2010 Sports Travel Award


THE 2010 USBC Women’s Championships featured a fresh look and a brand new format, and the event earned national recognition with a 2010 SportsTravel Award from SportsTravel magazine. The 2010 Women’s


Championships was named the Best Amateur Sports Event Series or Circuit, and USBC Executive Director Stu Upson was on hand to accept the award at the TEAMS (Travel, Events And Management in Sports) ’10 Conference & Expo in Charlotte, N.C. in October. On the way to the honor,


the Women’s Championships beat out the 2009 Little League World Series, 2010 American Strongman Platinum Series, 2010 Great Urban Race Series, 2010 Major League Dragon Boat Series and 2010 METAL2METAL Demolition Derby Series. “It’s an honor to be includ-

Roger Staubach to Speak at Bowl Expo


THE BOWLING Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA) announced that Pro Football Hall of Famer and commercial real estate icon Roger Staubach will serve as keynote speaker at the 2011 International Bowl Expo BPAA Executive Director


Steve Johnson made the announcement at the East Coast Bowling Centers Convention (ECBCC) at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J., in October. Staubach will speak during


the General Session on June 29, 2011 at the Gaylord Texan, in Grapevine, Texas before a crowd expected to include bowling industry leaders, pro- prietors from across the world, manufacturers and industry partners. Staubach’s keynote


address will be part of a historic week for the bowl- ing industry, which will also

include the telecast of the finals of the 2011 Bowling’s U.S. Women’s Open from midfield of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of Super Bowl XLV. “Roger Staubach is an


incredible individual and an inspirational figure whose winning attitude has translated into legendary accomplish- ments both on the playing field and in the board room. His message of hard work and perseverance in sports, business and life will resonate deeply with the audience of bowling industry leaders in attendance at Bowl Expo,” said Johnson. “Additionally, as one of the greatest Dallas Cowboys to ever wear the silver and blue, he is the perfect indi- vidual to join us in ushering in an exciting milestone – the historic telecast of the 2011 Bowling’s U.S. Women’s Open finals from Cowboys Stadium.”
