Nixons conquer Nevis!
You don’t have to be a regular hill walker to climb Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain at 1,344m (4,406ft), as was proved by David and Sara Nixon in early October when they joined the 2010 Breast Cancer Care Ben Nevis Challenge and raised over £1,700 for the charity, with donations still coming in. David and Sara said afterward, “The event was brilliantly organised with two nights spent at the Ben Nevis Hotel and included a good celebration in the evening after the walk. The weather changed rapidly on the mountain, we had sunshine, rain and rainbows, strong winds and even sleet as we approached the summit but we were well prepared for the conditions. It’s essential to have the right clothing and footwear. Now we’ve got all the gear we’re planning a few other trips for next spring”.
Sara added: “I thoroughly recommend joining this challenge for such a good cause, the 2011 date is already set for September 3rd and 4th.” Full details can be found at
www.breastcancercare.org.uk as can information on the care and support the charity offers to those with breast cancer and their families and friends.
