New Products
Bring on the winter, says Grivel
Grivel has some ingenious new products to add to its ever increasing and very popular range for winter 10/11.
The Speedy will become every ice climbers ‘best friend’ as it is a quickdraw made specifically for ice screws. It is designed to simplify manoeuvres of placement and removal, safely without stress and more importantly without losing the screw. With this innovative device the climber can set up a self belay by attaching the rope after only a few turns of the screw and then finish screwing in safely.
The generous sized carabiner makes it easy to use with winter gloves and there is a weight reduction of 15% compared to the traditional screw, plus double carabiner & quickdrawer. Speedy lets the climber remove the screw without unthreading the rope so it is impossible to lose the screw and once out of the ice it can easily be attached to the harness. The G22 (930gr) is the evolution with two front points of the G20 model which established a new standard of lightness in technical crampons. This new Mono- Rail technology distributes the points in an intelligent and original way. Quick to put on, the bindings are perfect for
plastic mountaineering boots that have a rigid sole and substantial heel and toe welts. The stainless steel safety strap, which was invented by Grivel, is permanently mounted on the front bale
and prevents total loss of the crampon should it be forced off the boot. The Jorasses ice axe looks as good as it performs - one piece forged Chromolly steel head, hand polished,
with entire length of the Neo-classical pick. The modified reverse curve inclination means that the blade can be swung around naturally,
providing superb placement in varied types of ice. The Ergal 7075 light alloy shaft
corresponds to CE and UIAA norms. The included Easy-Slider is a hand rest that can slide to the tail end of the shaft when
hand support is needed and can also
slide to the top end in walking mode making this a very versatile axe. It also has an elastic sling system to help avoid losing the axe when climbing on rock or ice.
This is a very solidly built axe with an extremely modern twist sturdy enough for professional use.
