Janine Campbell ......................................$1115 Byron Center West Middle School Technologies funded: 16 Adobe Premier Elements licenses, 3 digital cameras, micro- phones, tripods, etc. 8th grade students will collaboratively create informational videos to share research on various elements and prin- ciples of design, how artists use them, and how to apply them to their work.


Deborah Lawrence...................................$1500 Schoolcraft Upper Elementary School


Technologies funded: 2 laptop computers added to other technologies will create a Discovery Classroom. Classmates collaborate to create mul- timedia projects using green screen technology, Web 2.0 presentation tools and more. A digital portfolio will document student growth.


Laura Carrion ..........................................$1156 Stockbridge High School


Technologies funded: 12 Flip Camcorders, batter- ies, etc., to produce videos reviewing chemistry content, explanations of lab design, results, and conclusions. These video projects will improve motivation, ability to think critically, scientific reasoning skills, standardized test scores, and retention of course content.


Elizabeth Broder......................................$1480 L’Anse Creuse Middle School North


Technologies funded: 3 pocket video cameras, 3 digital cameras, microphones, 1 condenser microphone, digital voice recorders. Students will work in production teams to produce and maintain student blogs to collaborate on writing, record and publish interviews with community members, and create digital stories, booktalks, vodcasts, etc.


Jamie Dingus ...........................................$1413 Archdiocese of Detroit, St. Mary Catholic School


Technologies funded: 33 Microsoft Office 2010 licenses to help K-8 students use productivity tools to complete thematic units and make mean- ingful connections with classroom curriculum.


Rose McKenzie ........................................$1500 Jackson County ISD


Technology used: 4 Netbooks, 2 CD/DVD drives, cases, flashdrives to gain information and examine problems/solutions regarding the use of text-to-speech software and accessible instruc- tional materials as a compensatory strategy for students with disabilities.


Terry Lange-Winkel ................................$1360 Warren Woods Public Schools, Tower High School


Technologies funded: 8 Nano iPods & skins to provide high school students who have read- ing/writing disabilities with alternative methods to comprehend text and demonstrate their skills (i.e.: listen to classroom texts and novels, participate in video projects and alternative assignments).


Reuben Rubio ..........................................$1500 Spring Arbor University


Technologies funded: Turning Technologies Student Response System, receiver, MACUL Conference registration to implement a forma- tive assessment process (based on research from Robert Marzano) in a teacher preparation pro- gram. This will also help students understand content and show teacher candidates how to use a student response system.

Technologies funded: Pen scanners to create an engaging learning environment through scan- ning text in order to hear it spoken aloud, obtain definitions, spelling, etc. Information can be transferred to a computer for further studying.


Joni Rogers ..............................................$1449 Yale Public Schools, Yale Junior High


Technologies funded: 1 document camera, 5 digital video cameras, microphones and more, for a Digital Media class where 7th & 8th grade stu- dents will create project-based content.


Mike Winkel ............................................$1396 East Lansing Public Schools, Pinecrest Elementary School Technologies funded: 4 Netbook computers & Ning site license for second grade students to cre- ate enhanced podcasts by recording presentations and narrating projects, and to provide a weekly overview of learning posted on their Ning site for parents to view.


Tamela Blaszkowski ................................$1158 Lake Shore Public Schools, John F. Kennedy Middle School Technologies funded: School TV Made Easy Getting Started Package (Journey Ed), DVD Camcorder & more for students to create television quality broadcasts as well as other multi-media projects using a green screen, audio mixing board and teleprompter.


Michael Barbour ......................................$1500 Wayne State University/College of Education


Technologies funded: a 64GB & 32GB iPad, case, keyboard dock, etc., to implement a 4-month professional development program to help teach- ers integrate technology into their classrooms. The project leader will evaluate the PD program and teachers’ use of the iPads as a tool for tech- nology integration.


Mike Budziak ...........................................$1257 Gibraltar School District, David Oren Hunter Elementary Technologies funded: Epson Powerlite 83 Projector, Elmo Document Camera and projector cart to enhance fourth grade team proofreading skills by using students’ daily work for immediate collaborating & feedback.


Joseph Bell ...............................................$1500 Walled Lake Western High School


Technologies funded: eInstruction Classroom Performance System to quickly assess and address students’ understanding of scientific concepts. Quantitative and qualitative data will be collected and evaluated using educational research tech- niques.


Mary Groom ............................................$1458 daVinci Primary School


Technologies funded: 2 Student Response Systems to help teachers differentiate instruction with formative and summative assessments and make learning fun, while improving math fluency in grades 2, 3 and 4.


Gretchen Reist .........................................$1419 Ypsilanti New Tech High School


Technologies funded: 11 Wacom Bamboo Craft Pen and Touch Tablets to help 9th grade students work collaboratively and creatively to design computer-generated artwork demonstrating con- cepts in geometry (i.e.: designing a miniature golf course, bridge design, and fractals).


Diane Nye ................................................$1380 St. Joseph Public Schools, E.P.Clarke Elementary Technologies funded: 6 MinoHD Flip video camcorders to help students learn storyboarding, filming, interviewing and journaling skills. Family members will help create video scrapbooks dur- ing media center evening hours.
