PIROZHKOVA, BERNARD WIN UNIVERSITY WORLD TITLES TORINO, Italy - Elena Pirozhkova and


Ali Bernard won gold medals for the U.S. at the University World Championships on Oct. 27-28. Pirozhkova defeated Canada’s Elisabeth Williams in the gold-medal finals in women’s freestyle at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. It was her second career University World title, to go with her gold medal in 2008.


Pirozhkova was a 2010 World silver medalist on the Senior level at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. She is a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete. Bernard pinned 2006 Asian Junior champion Hiroe Suzuki of Japan in the finals at 72 kg/158.5 lbs. After losing the first period, 0-1, Bernard scored a fall in the second period. Bernard, who placed fifth at the 2008 Olympic Games, has won two Junior World gold medals during her career. Gabrielle Henry and Trinity Plessinger


won bronze medals in women’s freestyle. Reece Humphrey won a bronze medal


in freestyle.


FOLKSTYLE TOUR OF AMERICA TO FEATURE FOUR TOP EVENTS USA Wrestling is proud to announce


the 2010-2011 Folkstyle Tour of America schedule. The fourth season of this popu- lar folkstyle series features three return- ing events – the Salt Lake Slam, the Georgia Grind, and Dominate in the Dells – as well as the inaugural Northwest Bigfoot Battle. The Folkstyle Tour of America provides wrestlers and families with a national quality event at a local level. Age divi- sions contested at all four events include

Bantam, Intermediate, and Novice. Some events have additional age divi-


sions. The Northwest Bigfoot Battle, Salt Lake Slam, and Georgia Grind will also feature a Middle School division. Pee Wee wrestlers can compete in the Georgia Grind and Dominate in the Dells. Schoolboy, Cadet, and Junior divisions will be part of Dominate in the Dells. The Northwest Bigfoot Battle and the


Salt Lake Slam also offer "True Beginner" divisions, which allow wrestlers new to the sport to compete against other wrestlers with similar experience levels. True beginners are defined as having actively competed in the sport of wrestling for less than two years. Tour sponsor All-American Wrestling

USA WRESTLING ANNOUNCES ULTIMATE CHALLENGE SCHEDULE The schedule for the 2010-2011 Ultimate Challenge Series of youth folk- style wrestling has been set to include 12 USA Wrestling-sanctioned events in 11 states all across the country. Now in its ninth season, the popular series awards points to athletes for placing in premier folkstyle events. Please note that there have been


changes in the division structure as well as the point scoring rules this season. Wrestlers in eighth grade or lower are


eligible to compete, with three divisions determined by age. Division I birthdate guidelines are
