olumbia's Ravenous trail running shoe was awarded Trail Runner magazine's 'Editor's Choice - Best Debut Award' earlier this year. Trail Runner magazine lauded the Ravenous' successful combination of support and performance - 'With this debut, Columbia makes a huge splash in the trail-running market. For its light weight, the Ravenous offers excellent arch support, pronation control and cushioning.' With its technologically advanced construction, superior fit and nimble feel, the Ravenous had already turned heads throughout the industry, winning an Outdoor Industry Award from International Forum Design in July 2009. These Ravenous trail-running shoes have been painstakingly engineered with the aggressive trail- runner in mind, delivering cutting-edge design, fantastic fit and unparalleled off-road performance. Our revolutionary new heel capture system puts softer 3D molded Techlite material directly against the heel and moves the stabilising heel counter to the outside. This provides a comfortable, conforming fit where trail runners told us they need it most. Designed for performance from the ground up, the Ravenous features a multi- directional lugged outsole with Omni-Grip rubber
for superb traction on wet, muddy or rough terrain. Omni-Grip provides the right grip for every environment. We designed advanced traction solutions for trail, hiking, winter and water to ensure outdoor stability, no matter where your adventures take you. Multidirectional digging zones in our trail footwear promote scrambling and acceleration. A dual-zone winter tread pattern ensures solid footing on packed snow or ice and soft, slushy snow or powder. Hiking traction is designed to grip loose dirt and gravel combined with a durable and rugged perimeter for weighted packing. The water traction treatment features two zones with siping (small cuts that help move water out from under the shoe) for traction on wet surfaces and a perimeter design for a stable stride on solid ground.
A Techlite molded midsole provides super lightweight cushioning and support, while engineered forefoot flexibility and a lateral crash zone ensures a biomechanically correct fit that accommodates a trail runner’s natural foot motion. Engineered specifically to provide superior comfort and cushioning for outdoor footwear, Techlite is durable, impact absorbing, and an ideal material for consistent support and protection throughout a range of footwear uses. Created with a closed-cell compound, it is naturally antimicrobial, easy to care for, and odour-resistant. What's more, the manufacturing process used to create Techlite has dramatic environmental advantages over other cushioning technologies: the Techlite molding process reduces waste by 25–30%, keeping
