formed a very interesting study where he analyzed and com- pared the frictional properties of bismuthized bronzes (with various bismuth and tin contents) to standard leaded bronzes (C93200, C93600) as well as to a commercially available lead-free bearing material (C89320). Continuous casting was used to produce the test coupons. The results presented


showed that the bismuthized bronzes have similar mechani- cal properties and wear rates to those with lead. It has been also concluded that leaded bearings/bushings could be re- placed by bismuthized bearings/bushings without any loss of performance. However, the author did not carry out any bearing rig test for performance evaluation.
