Hit the road to discover the wide, open spaces of the USA. Get your kicks on Route 66, which stretches more than 2,400 miles from Chicago to southern California. Highway 1 clings to California’s stunning Pacifi c coastline, while the Great River Road follows the mighty Mississippi through 10 states from Minnesota in the north to Louisiana in the south.


Nightlife


Entertainment doesn’t come any bigger or brighter than in the USA. The hot nightspots of New York, Los Angeles and Miami attract limousine-loads of celebrities. Las Vegas is ablaze with neon. New Orleans and Chicago pulsate to the sound of jazz. Memphis swings to the sound of rock ’n’ roll and blues, while Nashville is the country music capital.


Golf


Tee off at some of the world’s top golf courses. They don’t come any greater than famous venues such as Augusta in Georgia and Pinehurst in North Carolina. Florida, Hawaii and South Carolina are among states that boast a wealth of beautiful golf resorts, with championship courses designed by stars including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones.


Landmarks


From the Statue of Liberty in New York to the Golden Gate in San Francisco, the USA boasts a treasure trove of iconic sights. Admire the spectacular view from the top of Seattle’s Space Needle or St Louis’ Gateway Arch. Stop by the White House in Washington or see the giant rock carvings of former presidents at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.
