West lives here still: cowboys still work cattle, and ranches cover thousands of acres in the central part of the state; guest ranches give tourists the opportunity to experience it all at first hand. The people here are as memorable as the scenery - get off the beaten path and take in a warm piece of pie and some Midwestern hospitality at a small town cafe. Enjoy a glass of wine at one of Nebraska's wineries, or go to a local festival

to the Silver State than just the dazzling bright lights of Las Vegas. You certainly won’t run out of things to do be it hiking up a cobalt-blue mountain lake in Great Basin National Park; the ranch-style hospitality of some of America’s last cowboys; quad biking in the dunes of Sand Mountain; discovering ancient rock art in the Valley of Fire State Park; skiing in Lake Tahoe; playing world-class golf courses or driving

down Highway 50, America’s loneliest road. With a landscape that stretches
from the Mojave Desert to the Great Basin, including 67 protected wilderness areas, not to mention a history ranging from extinct volcanoes to pioneering prospectors, there’s a great deal to do in Nevada. And plenty of ways to see it too: hiking, biking, kayaking, white-water rafting, snowshoeing or even skiing at one of Lake Tahoe’s 15 ski resorts.
As if that wasn’t enough the famous
Las Vegas Strip really does offer something for everyone with over 100 world-class shows in town, designer shopping, gourmet dining and spa retreats, international sporting events and of course high-stakes poker, roller coasters and an abundance of dance- till-dawn nightclubs.
STATE SECRET... The best skiing in the state – and possibly the US – is at Lake Tahoe. Many Olympic athletes train on the snowy slopes surrounding the lake, and every year hundreds of thousands of visitors come to Nevada to find out just what makes this a top ski destination.
DON'T MISS... One of the many special events in Las Vegas. In February 2011, the city hosts the US leg of the IRB Rugby Sevens tournament for the 2nd year running. For something different, visit in December and experience the National Finals Rodeo, the most prestigious rodeo in the world!
There's a lot more to Nevada than just Vegas
undiscovered. The vast state, which takes nearly eight hours to cross by car, includes a plethora of landscapes: natural prairie, enormous sculpted rocks, wicked badlands, scenic rivers and of course, it has hundreds of miles of renowned, undulating grasslands. The sunsets are some of the best in the world; the sky seems never ending and the rich hues of pink, red and purple are breathtaking. The spirit of the American
for a taste of ethnic flavours. But the best part of Nebraska? It's quiet. Turn off your mobile phone. Unplug the laptop. Put away the files.
STATE SECRET... Omaha’s world- class Joslyn Art Museum features exquisite works from antiquity to the present, including European, American, American India and Asian art. The museum is especially noted for its collection of American West art and its collection of watercolours and prints by Swiss artist Karl Bodmer.
DON'T MISS... Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park near Royal, Neb., contains the fossil skeletons of animals that died at a watering hole following a massive volcanic eruption nearly 12 million years ago. The fossil bed has been uncovered and left intact for public viewing.
Relax, breathe in the fresh air and rejuvenate your soul. Nebraska will take you places you've never been before.
