CONGRESS ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
A number of persons and groups were responsible for ensuring a successful congress in Hawai‘i. While it is
impossible to name everyone, three main groups were particularly responsible and are singled out for special
thanks — the staff of the Baptist World Alliance, the Congress Program Committee, and the Local Arrangements
Committee.
The staff, under the leadership of General Secretary Neville Callam, pulled a lot of weight and worked together
to make this congress happen. Special mention must go to Callam, who is blessed with immense leadership skills,
skillfully guiding the staff in fulfilling their responsibilities, and who did a lot of detailed work himself; Emmett Dunn,
congress director, who did much of the logistical and other work and planning; and Carolina Mangieri, meetings
specialist planner, who handled much of the registration details, meeting room arrangements, along with other
duties.
The Congress Program Committee, under the chairmanship of new BWA President John Upton, played a
significant role in planning the program and events that took place throughout the five days.
The Local Arrangements Committee, led by Rick Lazor, cooperated closely with the BWA office and did an
outstanding job in planning and preparing the way for the thousands of Baptists who converged on Honolulu. Lazor
and his team of volunteers gave much time and resources and offered their skills, without ever complaining and
always with a smile. Their spirit of love was especially evident during the congress in Hawai‘i.
God used and worked through many persons to make the congress happen, and to Him be the glory.
