M Contracts A new level of clean for Domino‘s

A brand new distribution centre in Milton Keynes has benefited from Nilfisk clean- ing equipment supplied via Nationwide Cleaning Machines (NCM) of

Northampton. The new facil- ity, owned by Domino’s Pizza Group Ltd, went live on 1 August and will deliver prod- uct to 427 stores, six days a week.

Hygiene standards are critical at the Domino’s site. The facility is EFSIS accredited, an exacting standard developed by the English European Food Safety Inspection Service. EFSIS also externally audits all procedures and standards. Domino’s has worked with Nilfisk dealer NCM for a number of years. Its advice was sought on new equipment for the 103,000 square feet facility that

Raising hygiene levels at West London Mental Health NHS Trust

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of healthcare and adult social care services in England. In addition to driving improve- ments and to acting swiftly to remedy bad practice, the CQC also has as one of its aims the ‘gathering and using of

knowledge and expertise, and working with others’. Nowhere is this approach better exemplified that at the West London Mental Health NHS Trust where cleaning and hygiene specialist CK Group was called in to supply its infection control expertise as well as its recommended cleaning products and experienced staff.

West London Mental Health NHS Trust was created in 2001 by the merger of Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham Mental Health Trust and Broadmoor Hospital Authority. The trust was further enlarged in 2002 when Hounslow Mental Health Services was merged into the organisation. The Trust provides mental health services to children and adults in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham. In addition, the Trust provides specialist and forensic mental health services, including high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital. Following a healthcare associated infection (HCAI) inspection in 2009, the Trust established an action plan with CK Group to address breaches in standards of cleanliness. A reinspection by CQC's HCAI inspectors in February 2010 found no breaches of the Hygiene Code and noted the improvements made. Additionally, service users overall felt that the ward environments were cleaner and that facilities had improved over time. “By choosing to work in partnership with CK Group, the West London Mental Health NHS Trust was able to tap into a vast reserve of experience in general hygiene and controlling infections,” said CK Group managing director Ian Pether. “We allow complete choice in providing cleaning services, intensive deep cleans whenever needed, or we supply the tools to do the job. In this instance we fully welcomed the opportunity to work with the Trust and our recommendations were closely followed. The results now speak for themselves.” www.ckgroupservices.com

After an extensive tendering process, Principle Cleaning Services has won a contract to clean No.30 St Mary Axe, a building that stands at over three times the height of Niagara Falls. Nicknamed ‘The Gherkin’ and opened in 2004, it not only provides highly flexible space and spectacular views of the City and beyond, but it is a building for the future taking the lead in set- ting new standards socially, spatially and environmentally. Responsible for daily cleaning to the washrooms, lifts, lobbies, reception areas and common parts, the company will be providing cleaning operatives,

housekeepers and a full time site manager. As and when required, other periodic tasks and floor maintenance will also be carried out, which is a significant task as each stairwell has 1037 stairs. Principle Cleaning Services has already gained a contract

for Searcy, the leading catering and hospitality organisation responsible for the restaurant at the top of 30 St Mary Axe, and interest from a number of the building’s other tenants. As a sustainable contract cleaning company, Principle Cleaning Services will also be carrying out a number of

environmental and inventive cleaning initiatives throughout the building as part of the three year contract.
