this rustic stop became a ghost town after its mine closed. Rediscov- ered in the 1970s, today it’s part hippie haven, part artisan community, with pottery shops, galleries, coffeehouses, a (supposedly haunted) mercantile, and the No Pity Café. The Mine Shaft Tavern, built to feed hungry miners, today serves travelers. It adjoins the abandoned mine, with a 1901 locomotive, equipment, a blacksmith shop, and old ve- hicles left from when the mine closed (
