Ethernet switch is equipped with innovative Fast Track Switching technology
The Ha-VIS FTS 3100s-A is the first switch in the Harting family of industrial Ethernet switches to offer the company's innovative Fast Track Switching technology: a solution that satisfies the majority of performance and determinism requirements in Ethernet networks for automation applications. The switch detects real-time automation frames and uses the cut-through method to accelerate their transmission. These automation frames are always forwarded before other types - in other words, they always have the right of way over non-real-time frames. The FTS 3100s-A incorporates ten Fast Ethernet ports, and is an unmanaged switch that can be configured with the FTS Manager via a USB interface. It combines the simple handling of a 'plug & play' device with individual setting options tuned to the particularly automation application. Port-related settings, such as data rate, duplex mode and port mirroring are easy to set up. The FTS Manager allows users to select the automation protocols that are to be detected and put on the fast track. configured and then activated with a single click. Versatile options are also available that allow other profiles to be detected and transported in FTS mode. This enables users to profit from FTS, even for their specific protocols: the switch can simply be optimised to almost any application, although the factory setting can handle the requirements in most cases. An optional pluggable memory card also provides users with a safe and reliable tool for saving and loading the settings.

GTK has released a new range of USB 3.0 Connectors. The connector range includes a PCB Mount A series socket in both single & dual port versions, a B series socket, which is used in peripheral applications, and the new style Micro B series socket which is designed for use in small portable devices. Each USB 3.0 connector has an additional 5 contacts and all are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 cable assemblies, enabling USB 2.0 level performance.
USB 3.0 technology, often referred to as “SuperSpeed USB” provides a ten-fold increase in data speeds over the previous USB 2.0 specification. It also has increased power output and efficiency which enables it to support new devices which are increasingly power hungry, and increase the battery life of portable devices. The USB connector has
become the de facto standard connector for many product applications, including PC’s, peripherals, consumer electronics and mobile platforms and the increase in its performance allows it to meet the requirements of the next generation products/technologies. Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen has announced that its Digital Signage Creator (DSC) is currently shipping. The DSC works with any Windows-based browser and gives users full control over their digital signage content creation. The intuitive layout programme offers the ability to create templates, insert music, layer video images, write scripts to control content and pull RSS feeds off the Internet to name just a few. Each DSC comes with Digital Signage Director (DSD) software that is intuitive to use, while offering advanced features to develop digital signage. It offers built-in scheduling and calendar functions so users can pre-arrange content to play at any time. Content can be pushed to the DSC for immediate updates or pulled automatically from another server using iCalendar.
A sample library of digital signage templates created by Gefen come pre-loaded on each DSC, so users have a starting point to learn the capabilities of the DSC. They can also customise or build their own templates as they desire. The 2Gb hard drive can be supplemented with server pages and a hi- speed USB 2.0 drive for larger projects. When connected to an Ethernet system, any licensed user can access the DSC to edit content, update information and schedule content. The FP Series of +105°C SMD aluminium electrolytic capacitors from Panasonic delivers Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) values that rival polymerised organic semiconductor alternatives.
The ESR value of an FP-Series G-case size is only 60m and an FP-Series Fcase size is a maximum of 80m over the capacitor lifetime (2000h at +105°C). This represents a reduction of nearly 50% in comparison with the Panasonic FKseries. These very low ESR values enable a ripple current of 1190mA at 100kHz/+105°C.
Currently Panasonic offers FP Series devices in voltage ranges from 6.3V to 50V and capacitance values ranging from 10 F to 1800 F. Further CV values are under development.
The advantage of the FP-series is the components' ability to withstand higher soldering temperatures for lead-free reflow soldering. Devices up to 6.3mm in diameter can survive peak temperatures of +260°C.
For applications that require high resistance to vibration and shock, diameter 8mm and 10mm parts within the FP-series can also be supplied in an anti- vibration version, with special supportive terminals and a higher bottom plate socket. This design enables capacitors to withstand up to 30G acceleration.
