INTERSOLAR
Industry growth reflected in show
The world’s largest exhibition for the solar and photovoltaic industry was held in Munich and the increase in both exhibitors and visitors was a reflection of the growth the industry is currently enjoying. Solar, the PV Management Magazine attended to find out what was shining brightly.
T
he European Intersolar got under way for the 19th time and its capacity to hold onto the moniker of world’s largest solar trade show is in little danger of being overtaken for some time yet. This year’s exhibition and trade show saw a 33% increase in exhibitor numbers and 29% growth in the total exhibition area compared to 2009. This equated to over 1800 exhibitors presenting in twelve halls as well as an outdoor area that benefitted from the hot and sunny weather the region put on for the visitors. In the end 72 000 of them made the effort to visit the Munich Trade Fair.
As well as the packed exhibition halls there was also a number of conferences and fringe events around the show and the Intersolar Europe Conference was held in tandem. All in all it was an extremely busy and exhausting event that was impossible to see everything. Especially when you are trying to take in as much as possible. When a show is this popular it is difficult to do more than achieve the visits and areas that you pre plan. Luckily the halls were laid out that you were able to focus on specific areas increasing the chance of that lucky find of a company that has the solution to an industry challenge.
