Anne was born in Boston, Massachusetts in Novem- ber 1938 to Lewis C. Cheney and Anne (Dillon) Cheney, ultimately a family with six siblings. Raised in Duxbury, Massachusetts, she was the eldest daughter and helped her parents raise the younger children.

Anne graduated fromThayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, class of 1956. Two years later she married, Peter, and became a nursery school teacher in Hanover, New Hampshire. In 1960 Anne gave birth to their first child, a son, Christopher. The following year Anne began a 26 year career as an Army wife, and in 1962 delivered their daughter, Elisa. Being a mother and raising the children was her special joy. Anne volunteered to help various Army service organizations and looked out for the families of her husband’s several commands when the soldiers were in the field. In 1984 Anne earned her realtor’s license and sold real estate in Rhode Island. After living six years in Los Gatos, California, she settled with her husband on a farm in Gettysburg in 1995. All told, she good-naturedly moved her family and household 22 times, making each transfer

an adventure. Anne was a woman of several talents – painting, music, interior decoration, and cooking – and a homemaker extraordinaire. Despite her worldliness, she retained a charming naiveté. She was an outgoing fun person, full of life, who encountered no strangers, just friends she hadn’t met. She was a member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church.

Anne is survived by her husband of 52 years, and their two children, Christopher of Merritt Island, Florida and Elisa Deskman and her husband William of Palm Harbor, Florida; five grandchildren; a sister, Louise Delew, East Islip, New York; and two brothers, Ronald Cheney, Mapleton, Maine and Phillip Cheney, South Dennis, Massachusetts.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 30 June, 2010 at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Gettysburg at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Kate Kelderman officiating. There will be no wake/view- ing. Interment will be in the Scott family plot in Duxbury, private and at the convenience of the family. No flowers, please. The family gives thanks to Drs. Shah, Weiss, and their staff at the Gettysburg Cancer Center, Dr. Wetzel, the family physician, and the Lutheran Hospice for their thoughtful care. Arrangements are through the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. Online obituary and condolences available at www.monahanfuneralhome.com
