HAMBURG-BORN Marco Niemerski certainly has plenty of reasons to be confident ahead of his live set at Space for DJmag on 1st July at Space. Combining the current vogue for nu-disco funk with a know- ing nod towards the raw authenticity of early house, his DJ sets (check the superb RA podcast) and production meld the best elements from both creating a joyful party experience that effortlessly moves between sounds retro and recent. Permanent Vacation‘s ‘Coma Cat’ became a sleeper under- ground single at the start of the year, finding itself into the wallet of any DJ worth their salt, from Simon Dunmore to Ja- mie Jones. So it was only a matter of time before hit-makers Defected snapped it up, jolting its feline charms back to life and no doubt adding more staying power to it furry legs than a family size KFC bucket does for Usain Bolt.
