MBC to distribute Lorpen socks


Mountain Boot Co. has added renowned sock specialist Lorpen to its portfolio of distributed brands. MBC will begin sales presentations as part of the SS11 campaign; however selected product lines will be available for delivery for the start of the AW10 season.


Also for MBC, Andy Babbage takes on the new role of Multisport category Sales Manager. Andy will focus his sales time with key independent and multiple accounts within the southern territory whilst working with the management team and brands to develop sales, marketing and all operational aspects of the division. This post will be underpinned by a new multisport representative position in the south.


New role at Berghaus and more


Berghaus has announced the creation of a new role in the business to support its UK customer base. Mike Clark (currently retail operations manager) has been appointed to the position of retail/product line manager, joining the Berghaus UK sales team.


Elsewhere in the company, Berghaus has confirmed the appointment of Barry McGeough as its new head of footwear and equipment. McGeough joins from The North Face, where he was vice president of hardgoods (footwear and equipment). He has now taken up his new role with Berghaus, based at the company’s headquarters in Sunderland. Meanwhile, after an extensive digital overhaul, the company’s web site www.berghaus.com now offers improved content throughout, and for the first time sells the full range of Berghaus products direct to consumers.


Moilanen named Suunto president


Amer Sports Corporation has announced that Mikko Moilanen, M.Sc EE, has been named President of Suunto Oy with immediate effect. Juha Pinomaa, the existing President of Suunto Oy, will resign from the company at his own request.


Prior to taking over the Presidential responsibilities, Mikko Moilanen has been Director of Products and Services at Suunto Oy since Jan 1, 2010.


Following the nomination, Mikko Moilanen will also be a member of the Amer Sports Executive Board where he will represent the Sports Instruments business area.


4 Anatom gets busy


Anatom is introducing a small and very focussed footwear range specifically aimed at the hiking and trekking market. Anatom footwear will incorporate their proprietary Anatom Tri:aria system that collectively delivers optimum breathability and waterproofness combined with an industry leading after care package in conjunction with Nikwax. The programme is a result of two years research into the optimum materials, components and manufacturing processes that provides a comfortable, sustainable, performance footwear range that meets the ever-increasing demands of the outdoor consumer. Andrew Jackson is also joining Anatom as the Director of Footwear with


immediate effect to head up this exciting project. Elsewhere for Anatom, they have added two new brands to their


portfolio as well: Masters poles and Dynafit, the ski brand. Commenting on this new relationship Anatom’s Director of


Communications, Don Gladstone says; “We are pleased to have confirmed the distribution of Masters. This high quality, innovative pole range fits well with our existing brand portfolio and allows us to offer retailers a rounded package. Although fairly unknown in the UK we are hoping to build and establish Masters as one of the key players within the pole market.” As Dynafit’s exclusive distributor throughout the UK, Anatom will offer

Nikwax publishes Corporate


Social Responsibility report Nikwax has released an updated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, which illustrates the company’s continued efforts to serve their stakeholders and openly discusses the successes and challenges of their environmental goals. Included in the report is detailed information on carbon emissions, energy reduction efforts and employee volunteer activities. The last 12 months have been significant for Nikwax environmentally and otherwise: it attained ISO


14001, was named by The Sunday Times as “Top 60 Green Companies in the UK”, the Green Organisation awarded it the Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practices in Manufacturing and Nikwax won Walk’s consumer-led award for Best other Walking Product last month.
