DIGITAL substrates

All change

As promotional activity in the retail trade gears up, so too do the substrates to make them a reality, not least a new re-positionable and digitally-printable display film launched by Neschen

Called Solvoprint easy dot 100, the glossy or matte films can be printed with solvent, eco- solvent and UV-curing inks. They are ideal for promotional applications and are expected to prove popular in stores and shops with constantly changing advertising messages. The dot-type adhesive coating developed by Neschen provides a channel for air to move, ensuring that the films can be applied without bubbles or creases. After use, its manufacturers claim the film can be removed from almost any substrate, residue-free. Senior product manager at Neschen, Friedrich Drinkuth, explained: “The Solvoprint easy dot 100 media are ideal for short to medium-term indoor use, particularly when display material is required at short notice for a new campaign. Businesses are able to respond flexibly, with no major input for designs which are changed at short notice.”

And finally

Seal has launched a new film and overlaminate designed to create a complete display system

The needle-sharp prints are protected from humidity, smearing, scratching and fading, while the colour reproduction and contrast make this product ideal for low cost lightbox applications. Since the material is made of paper, it is also an environmentally friendly alternative to film. Lightbox Paper is available in 100, 300 or 600 running metres.

Ideas pop-up

Pop-up and roll-up display systems specialist, Seal Graphics, guards its position jealously, which is why it is no surprise to see a range of new products in the first half of this year from this company.

Two of the latest films are Base Stoplight 190 and Jet Guard Crystal Lite, both economical versions of the company’s best- sellers. Although designed to be used in conjunction with each other as part of a complete display solution, they are both equally usable as stand-alone products. The first is a low cost solution for pop-up displays and other short term applications using heated roller laminators. Like its more expensive stablemate, Stoplight films, it contains an essential light-blocking core. The second is a lightweight but hard wearing

overlaminate with a crystal textured finish, also for use with heated laminators. It boasts excellent scratch-resistant properties and is suitable for general lamination of photographic and inkjet media in short term applications.

With so many new products entering the market, it can be a problem to decide which substrate will best suit your application, but it also means the solutions you can offer your customer are increasing every day. Retailers are using a host of new ideas to bring back their customers and with World Cup promotions everywhere, it’s a good time to be daring and to try out the latest substrates.
