camera simulator and frame grabber and rates them for the bandwidth they can actually handle. The company is also the cable partner for the CoaXPress data transmission standard and the main supplier for the HS Link consortium. Elsewhere, Stemmer Imaging

has added a range of compact lenses from Schneider Kreuznach to its product portfolio. The lenses give a uniform distribution of light across larger format multi-Megapixel sensors as well as high imaging performance. The special optical design of the lenses allows an even response across the entire high resolution sensor by removing the shading effects caused by the micro lenses that form an integral part of the pixel structure. The lenses are designed for use with up to 8-Megapixel sensors and with image formats less than 1.3 inches. With a 1.3-inch sensor, the

relatively short focal length allows a large coverage range at a short working distance. The lenses are available in four focal lengths ranging from 20mm to 50mm. The lenses are broadband coated and can be used in the visible range (400-700nm) or the near infrared range (700-1,000nm). The rugged, vibration-resistant construction includes an industrial-strength mount, precision-focus fi ne thread, click- stop-free iris and an iris lock with knurled screw.

The lenses have a wide

range of applications, including machine vision, transport and traffi c control, tube and inline inspection, defect detection and classifi cation, 2D/3D measurement, robot vision, security and automotive crash tests. www.stemmer-imaging.co.uk

Tamron, based in Saitama, Japan, has released two prototype zoom lens models designed for far infrared imaging with its Vibration Compensation (VC)

system built in.

The lenses have focal lengths of 14-40mm and 35-105mm, addressing the needs of both wide-angle and telephoto coverage, with a 3x zoom ratio. Integration of the VC feature enhances practical values, delivering crisp IR images without blurring caused by camera vibration.

The lenses can be used in fever detection vision systems, for detecting heat in an electric wire before a fi re breaks out, or monitoring the thermal profi le of equipment in a dark environment. www.tamron.co.jp

Videor is now distributing a range of 10-Megapixel lenses from Japanese company Kowa. The Kowa JC10M series is ideal for inspection of fi ne structures on a large surface, for instance. Conventionally, it was necessary to use several cameras to record accurate details per unit of area. The high resolution of the

JC10M series means that it can replace several lower resolution lenses, when it is used in conjunction with a high- resolution camera. The range offers a choice of 2/3-inch lenses with fi xed focal lengths of 5mm, 8.5mm, 12mm, 16mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm. Kowa lenses also feature an extremely short minimum object distance (MOD) of only 10cm.

In addition to Kowa, Videor

offers an extensive range of other manufacturers, including Eneo, Fujinon and Tamron. www.videor.com
