On the 15th February, 2010 The Tories “misplaced” a decimal point – it turns out that just 5.4% of girls in poorer areas had been pregnant by the age of 18, not the shocking 54% Cameron claimed.

In the same month the UK Statistics Authority chairman, Sir Michael Scholar, said that the Tory use of figures was “likely to mislead the public”. Indeed.

In addition, violent crime has halved since 1997, as the BBC’s political editor Mark Easton shows:
