Harvey Gulf inks deal for new OSV
New Orleans-based offshore towing operator Harvey Gulf International Marine has ordered an ultra deepwater offshore supply vessel (OSV) from Eastern Shipbuilding of Florida to join its existing fleet.

feature a few minor improvements. Te vessel’s specifications are 85.34m loa;

she has a beam of 18.2m, hull depth of 5.94m and a fully loaded draught of 5.05m. When the first vessel in the series Harvey
Spirit was delivered the president and chief executive officer of Harvey Gulf, Shane Guidry, said: “At distances of over 200 hundred miles each way, bigger has to be better. We can offer Harvey Spirit at two-thirds the cost of operating two smaller vessels with half her payload each. Plus with her DP-2 [dynamic positioning 2] station-keeping coupled with her cutting edge computers, stability control systems and pumping systems, she can stay alongside the rig or platform longer, in worse weather, and with greater accuracy.” Harvey Carrier like her sisters is classified
with ABS and she carries the notation ABS A1, AMS, ACCU, LOADLINE DP-2. She varies by having Caterpillar 3516 main engines whilst her sisters have GE 7FDM 12-cylinder engines. Harvey Carrier has also been fitted with twin azimuthing Z-drive propellers unlike her sisters controllable- pitch propellers. Like Harvey Supplier, Harvey Carrier also meets US Coast Guard Subchapter ‘L’ Full Oceans, SOLAS certification. Harvey Carrier has a larger dry bulk
capacity (12,700ft3) than both Harvey
Spirit and Harvey Supplier (both 12,000ſt3).
However, unlike both Harvey Supplier and Harvey Spirit, the new OSV will not be built to carry methanol in her tanks. To obtain maximum deadweight in her

Also equipped with a Converteam supplied diesel electric propulsion system with Schottel Z-drives rated for a total propulsion output of 5000kW with overall power provided by 4 x Cummins QSK60M diesel generators rated at 1825kW each, these vessels have been engineered to provide Harvey Gulf with fully integrated, fully automated offshore support vessels.
