MacGregor crane orders add to growing subsea market

Cargotec Marine has reported orders for its MacGregor knuckle-jib cranes for the subsea market. Two cranes are bound for Singapore to be fitted to a vessel and a barge and another recent order is for the UK part of the North Sea to be fitted on an offshore vessel.

large offshore cranes to Singapore-based Ezra Marine Service Pte Ltd in 2010 and the beginning of 2011 respectively. The cranes will be fitted to a deepwater anchor-handling towing/supply vessel (AHTS) and to a self-propelled accommodation barge. The value of the order is approximately €12 million (US$16.2 million) and it was booked in the first quarter 2010 order intake. This order comprises two large active

heave-compensated subsea knuckle-jib cranes. The first is for an ultra-deepwater AHTS. This 150tonnes safe working load (SWL) crane has an under-deck mounted winch with a 3000m wire. The second crane is a 150tonnes SWL version being installed on a DP self-propelled accommodation barge. Cargotec will manufacture vital

components for the two cranes at its state-of-the-art unit in Kristiansand, Norway, and at the recently modernised manufacturing, assembly and testing plant for offshore load handling solutions in Singapore. Øystein Bondevik, sales director for

offshore load handling at Cargotec, said: “Ezra is a major player providing integrated offshore support solutions for the oil and gas industry, and its choice of MacGregor offshore cranes for these newbuilding projects recognises Cargotec’s offshore capabilities.” Another order – for a MacGregor s u b s e a a c t i v e
