Story & interview by Christina Ritchie Rogers

J.P. and Anelle Ammons are truly a steam team. Now married for more than five years, they met in college as members of the Society for Creative Anachronism at UNC Asheville.

With closets full of hand-made outfits inspired by different historical time periods, multiple pairs of fairy wings, and a one-year-old son, the Ammons house is anything but ordinary. By day, J.P. is a project manager at a healthcare company and Anelle is a stay-at-home mother. They work on their steampunk clothing and accessories as they get a chance. Anelle works from the kitchen table while J.P. prefers the garage, making props, accessories, and- J.P.’s latest pet project – a set of mechanical wings.

Among the steampunk products they make and sell through their company, Double A Stitching
