Lightweight Leo from Ranger
Ranger Equipment has introduced a reduced weight trailer for Teupen’s Leo13GT spider lift, a 12.7m working height tracked machine offering a low overall towing weight to appeal to hire industry users. Ranger says that, at 400kg, the trailer combines with the already relatively low machine weight of 1400kg, plus the nominal 70kg weight of the on-board generator, to bring the total towing weight to under 1900kg. This comes within the towing capacity of vehicles such as small commercial vans and larger cars. The trailer’s overall dimensions have been kept as compact as
possible to facilitate access to a wide range of work sites and to negotiate narrow city streets and country lanes. It incorporates twin
axles with maintenance-free independent suspension, automatic reversing brakes and comes with stowable steel loading ramps. Launched last autumn, the Leo 13GT is aimed at smaller hire companies and end users. The specification includes non-marking tracks, a narrow 0.78m wide chassis, and 6.10m outreach at the maximum 200kg capacity

Strategic partnership on safe working
The Association for Project Safety (APS) and the Access Industry Forum (AIF), the forum representing nine principal associations and federations involved in working at height, have announced an agreement to provide mutual advice and assistance and, in particular, to act as strategic partners with regard to construction health and safety risk management and working at height respectively. The aim is to provide advice and assistance to each other’s organisation and members by benefiting from their respective knowledge and skill bases. The AIF, which represents all sectors of the access industry, will provide support in respect of working at height, including an enquiry service, work at height training and guidance to APS members, and engaging with APS on legislative, policy, technical or guidance matters. The APS is a multi-disciplinary membership body for those who operate in, or have an interest in, Health & Safety risk management in the construction industry. It will now provide advice to AIF and its member organisations regarding construction health and safety risk management, and work with it to help qualify the term ‘competence’ in the context of working at height.
