With the seat positioned in the front half of the machine and an off- centre boom, the driver has an unrestricted view. The 420 also has a telescopic boom with a maximum lift height of 2750mm.
Highlighted on Takeuchi’s stand was the TB219 mini excavator, designed for grave digging and deep utilities ground work. The machine features an extended boom arm, which works to a dig depth up to 2520mm and offers 4280mm of ground reach. The machine weighs 1870kg with a canopy, or 1995kg with a cab, and the tracks extend from 980-1370mm for extra stability.
Proving popular on Ammann Equipment’s stand were examples from the ranges of Ammann Ramfos mini excavator attachments. These include boom-mounted breakers, crushers and compactors. Ammann also reports that its tandem vibratory rollers, such as the 82cm working width AV12-2 and the 120cm-wide AV 26-2, are arousing interest among hirers. The machines are designed for low noise and are claimed to offer particularly low levels of whole body vibration.
Husqvarna’s K760 disc cutter has several environmentally friendly qualities.
Software supplier MCS promoted the new Smart Alerts component for its MCS-rm system. Hire managers can tailor its settings to their requirements, detailing the specific circumstances that will trigger them. A typical application would be in customer retention. If routine orders from a regular customer drop below a certain preset level, by value or by volume, an alert can inform managers accordingly by text message or email. It could be that the customer is taking business elsewhere or that they are merely undergoing a seasonal downturn. Either way, managers can investigate and respond accordingly.
Finally, displaying equipment very much at the heavier end of the plant spectrum was Liebherr, whose line-up included the R 906 Classic from a new generation of ‘6’ series hydraulic excavators. The 22 tonne class machine is designed for low noise and exhaust emissions, has an air-conditioned cab and offers four operating modes from hard dig to precision lifting or grab work.
Powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine, output is 105kW at 1800rpm and bucket capacities range from 0.6-1.15m3
