Expertise From a claims administration perspective, DCS has 5 specialist operating divisions:
▪ Professional Liabilities ▪ This is the largest division within DCS and is led by Matthew Howes and Richard Bedford, both Directors of DCS, who between them have over 30 years experience of dealing with Professional Liability claims. Their team includes a blend of experienced staff with Lloyd’s, Company Market and private practice legal backgrounds.
The division currently provide bespoke claims portfolio management to a number of clients for policies written on a 100% and subscription market basis. This includes a spectrum of policyholders from small to medium size enterprises to large multinational corporations. The team administers claims for a great number of professions, from the more traditional architects, engineers, surveyors, accountants, insurance brokers and solicitors to the less traditional IT Consultants and Publishers. All claims are dealt with on a ‘cradle to grave’ basis. The Division also has experience of Directors and Officers claims on both primary and excess layers. This broad workload effectively means the Division’s experience is second to none and that there is no type of Professional liabilities claim that the Division cannot administer. In addition the Division is able to advise insurer clients of claims trends taking statistical data across all portfolios administered. Clearly we ensure that client confidentiality is paramount.
▪ Liability & Property ▪
This division is managed by Michael Walsh. Michael and his team administer several direct UK liability & property schemes for London Market insurers.
The risks are UK and Eire based and include large building construction companies; hotels, bars & nightclubs; plumbers; roofers and scaffolders.
Over 80% of the casualty claims are dealt with in-house and without the need of an external investigation, thus limiting defence costs incurred by insurers. The claims that are investigated externally (via a loss adjuster) are then reported back to DCS for continued handling / resolution.
▪ DCS Protect ▪ DCS Protect is located in Swindon and is a new regional office for DCS, formed by the transfer of a very experienced in house team of claim handlers from a leading UK PLC. The division is headed up by Debbie Taylor who for over 20 years was responsible for handling surveyors’ liability claims for one of the UK’s premier residential survey companies.
