Opening in the springtime, the Cedar Court Grand Hotel &
Spa is planned to be York’s very first 5-star hotel – and
while the location is steeped in history the new hotel will
be very much up-to-date. It’s located in the HQ of the for-
mer North Eastern Railway Company, and the Edwardian
building will see a magnificent transformation costing
£20million. When it opens it will offer guests 107 rooms,
private dining rooms, five meetings rooms accommodating
up to 20 delegates, the Director’s Room – which can host
up to 40 guests, and a wood-panelled Boardroom capable
of holding 120 people. There will also be a decking area
overlooking York’s historic city walls and which can com-
fortably hold a marquee large enough for 300 revellers.
