LB: Who is your favourite photographer and why?
SEL: Fashion photographer Tim Walker would be very high on
my list .I think his work is extraordinary and wonderfully
inspirational. It is so interesting to see how he creates such
dream-like images with stories behind them.
But there are also many others who both intrigue and inspire me.
LB: If you could have taken any photo in the world which
would it have been and why?
SEL: I actually have a poster of one of Tim Walker’s photographs
- Lily Cole on a Spiral Staircase - on a wall at home. And every
time I gaze at it I wish I’d taken it. It’s stunningly beautiful.
LB: Your favourite piece of lighting equipment?
SEL: I’m always in the studio at ‘uni’ and love the lights we have
there. In the main I use the Bowens Gemini range – they are just
so easy to use and give me great results.
LB: What’s your fantasy shoot if money is no object?
SEL: I would love to experience shooting in a top studio, armed
with the best equipment and professional models. And for a real
difference in location I’d love to do a proper underwater shoot
one day.
LB: What’s the most important thing you’ve learnt so far about
photography?
SEL: Patience. This applies to every aspect of my photography:
working hours on end in the darkroom to get just one print
perfect and spending ages sorting out lighting to get it exactly as
I want it.
LB: Have you sold any work yet or had anything published?
SEL: Yes. I’ve sold some prints through online companies and
I’ve had work published in a few photography magazines - for
critiques and features. It feels good to know that people like it
and I that I am starting to make an impact.
LB: What are your plans when you finish studying?
SEL: I’m not really sure what I will be doing yet. However, I will
definitely be continuing with fashion photography. I would like to

try and assist a few photographers to gain experience and try
