MOAA Supports Reservists
Legislation: MOAA’s legislative team ardently has opposed force reductions and advo-
cated manpower increases every year since 1999 to ease increasing strains on active duty,
Guard, and Reserve servicemembers and their families.
Health care: MOAA has defeated large Pentagon-proposed TRICARE fee increases, while win-
ning military health coverage for drilling Guard and Reserve servicemembers and their families
through the TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) program. MOAA also developed a low-cost, high-
value TRS supplement under its MEDIPLUS
®
program. Visit www.moaainsurance.com.
Benefits: MOAA headquarters staff travel across the country to speak to Guard and Re-
serve members about their military benefits including changes to the GI Bill and to TRI-
CARE Reserve Select. Visit www.moaa.org/locator/eventsearch.asp to find out when an
MOAA representative will be speaking in your area. MOAA representatives are available to
counsel guardmembers and reservists through significant life events such as retirement
from the Guard or Reserve and aging into the receipt of pay and benefits. MOAA also ex-
hibits at Guard conferences to help attendees with benefits issues.
Family support: MOAA offers a spouse-specific publication, “Focus on You: A Career
Handbook for the Military Spouse.” Call MOAA’s Member Service Center (MSC) at the
phone number below for a copy. MOAA’s legislative team’s pushes have won additional
funding for family support programs. Check out MOAA’s Military Family Legislative Ac-
tion Guide at www.moaa.org/legisactionguide.
To learn more: MOAA’s Member Service Center provides personal assistance to help re-
solve problems with military health care, insurance, military pay, and other military or VA
programs. Member service representatives can connect members to MOAA staff who can
provide more information about or counsel on any of the issues listed above. Call (800)
234-MOAA (6622) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Eastern time.
