Celebrating Three Years
F
unctional Integrative Training, Inc. (FIT) in Palm
Coast just celebrated a three-year anniversary
and is offering a 30-minute complimentary con-
sultation during the month of May. FIT is a one-
on-one fitness studio offering Pilates, personal
training, Golf Fitness and Physical Therapy.
The Pilates method offered at the studio utiliz-
es equipment originally developed by Joseph Pi-

lates comprised of springs and ropes and is unlike
traditional strength training equipment. The personal training offered utilizes both
traditional and non-traditional equipment such as free weights, bands, a variety of
medicine balls and stability balls, balance apparatuses and much more. The Golf
Fitness programs focus on assessing a person’s strength and limitations and then
develop a corresponding program designed for an individual’s specific needs. FIT’s
Physical Therapy services have a strong holistic emphasis incorporating flexibility,
strength, balance and manual techniques for a variety of diagnoses with a strong
emphasis on neurological rehabilitation ranging from pediatrics through adults.
Desiree M. Challice is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Certified Pilates Instruc-
tor and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dave Challice is a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Personal Trainer with the NSCA. He is
also one of fifty, Level 3, Certified Golf Fitness Instructors Nationwide as well as a
Golf Pro level 2 with the Titleist Performance Institute.

Business Expo in DeLand
T
he 2009 Annual Business Expo is being held on
Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. Besides
displays from area businesses highlighting products
and services, the expo offers drawings, giveaways
and seminars like “Bringing Your Garden Back”
and “Smart Decisions for Tough Markets”.
There will also be a kid’s area featuring clay pigeons and fingerprinting by the
DeLand Police Department, Shea Home Tours, a Pet Adopt-a-thon by ARK (Animal
Rescue Konsortium) and animals from the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens.
Admission is free. The expo is being held at The Club House at Victoria Gardens/
Shea Homes, 1001 Garden Club Drive in DeLand. For information on exhibitor

World’s Largest Coffee Break
T
he Fair Share Garden & Artisan Market will be
participating in the World’s Largest Coffee Break
on Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Americans across the country will gather in uni-
son on May 9, to support the growing popularity of
Fair Trade in the United States. The Fair Share Urban
Garden Project will take part by hosting an event and
fundraiser to help highlight the benefit of Fair Trade to farmers, producers, consum-
ers and the environment.
