One cannot talk about sailing
without mentioning Gary Jobson. They
are one and the same. Jobson has won
more awards than we can possibly list,
but a few on the sailing side; All American
collegiate sailor, won the America’s Cup
in 1977 sailing with Ted Turner, won the
infamous Fastnet. On the broadcast side,
Gary is the face of sailing on television.
He has been ESPN’s sailing commentator
since 1985, winning an A.C.E. Award for
the 1987 America’s Cup, and Emmys
for his coverage of sailing in the 1988
Olympics and the 2006 Volvo Ocean
Race on PBS. In 1999 Gary won the
coveted Nathanael G. Herrshoff Trophy,
and was inducted into the America’s
Cup Hall of Fame in 2003. Couple the
