Many people ask what the advantage of the Motor Unit is on a college campus. The fi rst function of motor units in a municipal, county or state department is normally traffi c enforcement, however, traffi c is not a primary function of Campus Police Departments. But other than the obvious advantages of patrolling the interior parts of campus due to the versatility and maneuverability of the motor, our main function of the unit (after general patrol) is public relations and the motorcycle is a wonderful conversation starter. Eastern Michigan University utilizes the motor unit to help make our campus and community safer. The motorcycle has been very well received by the campus and community.
