Steve E. Georgas, Acting Chief of Special Functions at Chicago Police Department, began working toward schedul- ing our first-ever CPD class together when an opportunity became available during the month of October. Senior NUCPS Instructors Jerry Prybil and Gary DeKinder along with CPD Sergeant Jerry Garcia completed the process, and the training took place at O’Hare International Airport October 6 – 24. The three-week Instructor class started


with three instructor candidates from CPD and one from the Illinois State Police. The two-week Operator Class began with 11 operator students from CPD and one from the Crystal Lake, IL Police Department. Sergeant Garcia was an excellent host and was in


attendance every day providing support. Director Casste- vens as well as Acting Chief Georgas also visited and observed training. See the 2015 NUCPS Operator/Instructor training schedule on page 40.
