Automated phone payments meet security standards
TCEC offers several different options for members to pay their electric bill. In September 2016, TCEC began using an automated interactive voice response (IVR) system to take payments via the phone. This change from a live- operator to an automated system enabled TCEC to be compliant with Payment Card Industry security standards for the protection of consumers’ data during credit/ debit card transactions.
Members who want to make a payment via the phone can call 580.652.2418 and press ‘2’ to make a payment. They will be routed directly to the IVR. Or, they can call the pay by phone IVR directly at 844.203.6547.
Members have several options to choose from when making a payment. For example, SmartHub is available via the web or on mobile devices like phones and tablets.
TCEC also has payment kiosks in towns throughout its territory. These kiosks accept cash, check and credit cards. Payments
post within minutes. See page four for all locations. Members can also mail payments or drop them off in person using the dropbox or at the reception area.
Members can also enroll in AutoPay with their credit or debit card or bank account through SmartHub. Then their monthly payment is automatically deducted.
TCEC also offers Pay As You Go for members who want to more closely manage their energy use. This prepaid option puts you in control of your payments and eliminates late fees and deposits.
Many members like the Levelized payment option, which levelizes electric bills over a 12-month period. This means members receive a more consistent bill each month.
