LENSES AND OPTICS SonoPower 3S ultrasonic cleaning system

Weber Ultrasonics has introduced the SonoPower 3S megasound system for gentle and effective ultrasonic cleaning for sensitive substrates. Sensitive components such as monocrystalline

wafers from the photovoltaic and semiconductor industries as well as optical lenses and prisms and super-finely structured substrates place tough demands on component cleaning. The tiniest of contamination must be reliably

removed without compromising the surface. Weber Ultrasonics has developed the

SonoPower 3S megasound system with frequencies from 500 to 1,000kHz, to ensure especially gentle and yet effective handling of the components along with high levels of cleanliness.

Ultra Series qPCR product family

Alluxa has extended its Ultra series to include high-performance polymerase chain reaction (PCR) specific filters. These filters were developed with higher performance optical characteristics and are intended to improve speed and efficiency of real time qPCR testing for the Sars-Cov-2 virus. The new Ultra Series qPCR product family includes real-time, qPCR-specific filters for integration into medical equipment that performs Covid-19 testing of patient samples. These ultra-steep filters with > OD6

blocking out of the band and centre wavelength tolerances of < ± 0.3 per cent offer the highest transmission levels with a passband average of > 95 per cent. The new filters aid in the fluorescent detection of the virus and cover most common fluorophores for single and multiplexed qPCR filters. Alluxa is currently supplying OEM qPCR- specific optical filters which are assembled into medical instruments globally for use in PCR testing of individuals. www.alluxa.com

The SonoScan feature automatically determines and sets the optimum operating frequency and monitors and adjusts it during the process. This guarantees that the ideal power output is always applied, even in the face of changing operating conditions such as temperature fluctuations or when cleaning and rinsing media are changed. www.weber-ultrasonics.com

Autofocussing electronic autocollimator

Laser Components’ partner PLX has released the ACT-25FO auto-focusing electronic autocollimator. The ACT- 25FO combines the functionality of an autocollimator and an alignment telescope in one unit, using a motorised focussing knob controlled by the supplied software. The focussing function allows the unit to

focus on objects along the optical axis of the autocollimator with LOS deviations smaller than 2.5 seconds. The software can be used to focus at infinity so that the system functions as a conventional autocollimator. The ACT-25FO autocollimator can

be used for a range of optical testing applications, including testing the distance to reflective surfaces such as silicon wafers, radius measurement of spherical concave and convex optical surfaces and measurement of the back focal length of optical systems. The system may also be used to aid focusing of LEDs and laser diodes. www.lasercomponents.com/uk

SPECTROSCOPY IsoPlane 81 spectrograph

Teledyne Princeton Instruments (TPI) has added the IsoPlane 81 aberration-free, imaging spectrograph to its IsoPlane spectrograph portfolio. The IsoPlane 81, formerly Fergie, features a design integrated with a deeply cooled, research-grade CCD camera; all in a very small form factor. The new model includes improvements that

further reduce readout noise, increase scanning speed, and create easier access to gratings, as well as external updates that improve the ruggedness of the system. Since the introduction of the Fergie in 2016, TPI has invested heavily in expanding the spectrometer’s ecosystem with accessories that have a strong focus on Raman spectroscopy and Raman microscopy. These accessories include

a dedicated module for fast and accurate micro spectroscopy, light sources for calibration, and a variety of pre-aligned cubes. Additionally, IsoPlane 81 includes LightField

software, which allows users to construct experiments in minutes. All IsoPlane 81 system features are supported, including a built-in timing generator for time-resolved spectroscopy as well as both automated wavelength and intensity calibration via available light sources. The combination of IsoPlane 81, LightField and dedicated accessories allows users with minimal knowledge of spectroscopy to approach applications like surface enhanced Raman, nano- and 2D-materials analysis, and particle analysis with confidence. www.princetoninstruments.com
